The aim of the contest is to raise the awareness of the general public, future engineers and maritime professionals for a more efficient maritime transport and better overall energy efficiency. When approached BYD and Composite Manufacturing and Design Ltd (CML) felt strongly towards the aims and ethos of the competition, and did not hesitate to show support. It is proactive in setting the minds to thinking towards the future of the marine industry.
Each model must fit in a 'virtual' box with the following dimensions: 2m x 2.5m x 2.5m. The HYDROS Foundation provides all the registered teams with a battery and a 1200 W engine. Gathering all the team members knowledge about naval architecture, small craft performance design, electronics and mechanics, the aim is to build the fastest and most efficient boats. To do so, each team has to create and manage a project involving technical and practical work, team work, communication and sponsors search.
The competition will take place on Lake Geneva in Lausanne, Switzerland. On the 18-19th of July 2015. where all the teams will battle it out.
